Fahd Mahdi shoots girlfriend in the leg: police

On August 3rd, Salt Lake police were called to the hospital at 2:30 a.m. because a 17-year-old girl arrived with a bullet wound. The teenager, who had suffered a gunshot in her leg, was driven to the hospital by a young friend.

The teenager told the police that her boyfriend warned her not to go to a party that took place that evening.

According to the police report, the young lady said that an upset Fahd Mahdi told her that “if she went without him, there would be trouble.”

The teen ignored her boyfriend’s threats and went to the gathering amongst friends. The party was held at a home located near 1400 S. Main.

At some point during the soirée, Mahdi, visibly vexed, showed up and made his demands clear. The young man said his girlfriend had to quickly come to him.

Mahdi warned teen girl publicly

When the teen girl found Mahdi, he once more threatened to hurt her. Despite being in a public setting, Fahd Mahdi “threatened to hurt her and told her that he was not afraid to punch her in front of everyone,” according to the charges.

Later that evening, Mahdi found his girlfriend sitting in the back seat of a friend’s car, and this time he had more than menacing words — he took action.

The police documents revealed that Mahdi knelt next to his young partner, pulled out a gun, and while they were having a bizarre conversation about taking pictures with the weapon, he shot her in the leg.

The police documents revealed: “(She) stated that Mahdi displayed a pistol, and she asked him if he had taken pictures with the gun. (She) reported that her ears started to ring, and she realized that she had been shot in the leg by Mahdi.”

The teen girl needed surgery for a broken femur. In a follow-up interview with the authorities, the injured teenager explained that she was in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend.

According to the charges: “The victim reported a history of abuse between her and the defendant. The victim described their relationship as violent and abusive. She stated that (he) is very possessive of her and treats her like she is his property. The victim further stated that (Mahdi) is physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive toward her.”

Fahd Mahdi was quickly apprehended at his South Jordan home. He was taken into custody on suspicion of felony discharge, according to the New York Post and KSL. Mahdi was arrested the following week.

Per the prosecutor’s decision, Mahdi is currently locked up at the Salt Lake County Jail “without the possibility of posting bail pending trial.”

Mahdi’s case has some similarities with Mackenzie Shirilla

Mahdi should take note that the justice system is not lenient with teenagers who commit crimes. This week, an Ohio judge threw the book at Mackenzie Shirilla, 19, for the killings of her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, 20, and a friend, Davion Flanagan, 19.

Appearing in an Ohio courtroom, Mackenzie Shirilla cried as Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Nancy Margaret Russo found her guilty on all 12 charges.

Mackenzie Shirilla was charged with murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, felonious assault, and drug possession for the deadly incident that took place in 2022.

Shirilla has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years. The judge told the weeping teen: “This was not reckless driving. This was murder. She had a mission, and she executed it with precision. The decision was death.”

On July 31st, 2022, the Strongsville Police reported that Shirilla was driving a 2018 Toyota Camry. According to surveillance video from that early morning, Russo was in the front seat and Flanagan sat in the back.

It is claimed that the three friends had smoked marijuana that morning. The surveillance video showed, in court, confirmed that Shirilla was driving at a normal speed when her vehicle was spotted at the Progress Drive Business Park.

Shirilla convicted

According to the judge when Mackenzie Shirilla took Alameda Drive, she became “literal hell on wheels.”

Cleveland.com via PEOPLE, revealed: “Shirilla was seen accelerating before jerking the wheel to the right and left before slamming into a brick building at 100 mph, leaving her and her passengers trapped in the twisted metal wreckage.”

Prosecutors maintained that Shirilla was on a murder-suicide mission because she wanted to end her tumultuous romance with Dominic Russo.

County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said: “There is no doubt that this happened because of the relationship with Dominic and the defendant’s intent was clearly to end that, and she took everybody that was in the car with her.”

Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan died on the spot and Mackenzie Shirilla was found unconscious and not breathing.

Shirilla’s mother said her daughter plans to appeal her conviction.
