Meghan Markle‘s estranged father, Thomas Markle, who is unable to speak, has given an update on his health after being rushed to the hospital following a major health episode.
The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly taken steps to make contact with Thomas Markle before it is too late.
Thomas Markle suffers a stroke
On Monday, the 77-year-old father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was taken to a hospital near his home in Rosarito, Mexico.
The retired Hollywood lighting director turned media personality had suffered a stroke and was later transferred to a medical facility in California. Thomas Markle spent one week in the critical-care ward.
His daughter, Samantha Markle, assessed the dire situation at the time by saying that the stroke had seriously affected the right side of his brain, and he was no longer able to speak.
Thomas Markle has since been discharged from the hospital and is now home under the care of his son, Tom Jr.
He took part in an interview with veteran royal author and GB News host Dan Wootton.
Thomas Markle sends message to Queen Elizabeth
The media personality, who is still non-verbal, wrote down the message he wanted to share with the world and Queen Elizabeth.
He shared: “I feel hugely grateful and know how lucky I am to be alive. I want to thank everyone, especially the wonderful doctors and nurses who saved my life, and they are angels.”
Thomas Markle was scheduled to travel to England in early June to attend Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
He wrote a message on a whiteboard as a tribute to Her Majesty as she marks her 70th year on the throne.
Via Mail on Sunday, Thomas Markle wrote: “I wanted to come to pay my respects to the Queen. I wish her a happy Jubilee and many more years.”
Lady Colin Campbell, a controversial British aristocrat and author, has confirmed that Thomas Markle has canceled his trip to England following his medical emergency.
Lady Colin Campbell revealed on her popular YouTube channel that she was planning to host Meghan Markle’s father at her castle.
The reality television star stated: “Dan Wootton and I, and Dan’s people and I have been in touch with each other for some time now… the planned arrangement was essentially a private visit. However, it has been derailed by Mr. Markle’s unfortunate illness.”
As Thomas Markle fights to regain his speech, he has received some much-needed positive news.
Meghan Markle wants to end rift with her father
Meghan Markle has reportedly contacted her father’s team to develop a plan for them to meet.
The father and her famous daughter have been estranged since April 2018.
The former actress told Oprah Winfrey that because of her father’s acts of betrayal, she was forced to cut all ties with him days before her lavish royal wedding to Prince Harry.
The man embarrassed Meghan Markle and the British royal family by staging a series of photos for the paparazzi in exchange for a large check.
Oddly enough, in 2018, Thomas Markle was set to fly to London and walk his youngest daughter down the aisle, and he suffered a significant stroke which made it impossible to attend the big event.
Because of the nasty row between father and daughter, Thomas Markle has never met Prince Harry, nor the couple’s two children — Archie, 3, and Lilibet, who turns one tomorrow.
During the bitter, four-year rift, Thomas Markle, his son, Thomas Jr, and his oldest daughter, Samantha Markle, dropped an exhaustive list of accusations against Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle’s sister, Samantha, accuses her of “elder abuse”
Most recently, Samantha Markle accused the Duchess of Sussex of “elder abuse” and blamed her for their father’s illness.
She said during an interview: “It’s a travesty how much he’s been tortured and how much he’s had to go through thanks to my sister’s disregard the past few years. That is unforgivable. Two heart attacks, a pandemic, and now a stroke. None of us have heard from Meghan — that’s negligence.”
According to The Mirror, The Duchess of Sussex is now ready to fix things with her ailing father, but she wants to do it on her own terms.
Meghan Markle has told her father’s entourage that she wants to see him privately, and there will be no Netflix cameras or paparazzi around.
Prince Harry’s wife does not want to meet with her half-siblings because of an ongoing lawsuit.
On Saturday, the source with ties to Meghan Markle explained to the British publication: “Despite their estrangement, Meghan is concerned. She wants to know if there is any way to contact her father privately, without other family knowing about it or having to get involved.”
The person familiar with the situation added: “Meghan can’t contact her half-siblings because she believes they have their own agendas. If she can contact their dad, she wants it to be totally private. It won’t involve Netflix, it won’t involve any photographs, and it must not involve any tip-offs to the paparazzi.”
Samantha Markle says Meghan did not reach out
Samantha Markle has expeditiously done an interview in the wee hours of Monday morning to say that her half-sister has not reached out and insisted that the door is wide open.
Speaking to Good Morning Britain, the author said: “Those rumors are not true, she [Meghan] has not reached out.”
She continued: “He loves all of us, and he’s been bashed in the media for always speaking out to extend an olive branch to reach out to her (Meghan). He is her father, so he has a right to reach out to her. He has been very honest and open in those feelings, and the door is wide open. She’s always had his phone number, it hasn’t changed, and his address, so any suggestion that she doesn’t know how to get hold of him and that she wanted to be private is somewhat ridiculous on the grounds that if you want to reach out to your father privately, you know how to do it.”
In early June, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK with their two children to attend Her Majesty‘s Jubilee celebrations.
The powerful pair will make low-key appearances and will mainly focus on repairing their crumbling relationships with several members of the royal family, including Prince William and Prince Charles.
