The remains of Kiera Lanae Bergman were found last week after she had been declared a missing person for nearly a month.

The body of the 19-year-old woman was discovered in the Arizona desert, outside Phoenix in the vicinity of State Route 85 in Buckeye.

According to police, the place where they found the deceased girl was just 45 minutes away from her home address.

The last time Bergman was seen alive was when she was walking outside of her apartment building in early August.

Following the unfortunate discovery, the grief-stricken family and friends of Bergman expressed their deep sorrow by writing condolences on social media.

The father of the deceased, Chris Bragg, also stated that for the time being all they wanted was for the body to be released so they could bring the remains home.

Her mother, Kiersten Bragg, who lives in San Diego with the dad, stated: “I’m angry because she did not deserve this. Nobody deserves this. She’s our daughter, and she was a wonderful person, and she did not deserve whatever happened to her.”

Since the case required an active homicide investigation to be carried out, an autopsy was scheduled so more could be determined about the cause of death.

So far, no further information has been issued by the police, and it remains unknown if there are any prime suspects.

However, according to a close friend and roommate of Bergman, Destiny Hall-Chand, on the day that Kiera was seen for the last time, she sent a text message to her, saying she was about to meet with an unnamed man, whom she had met earlier.

Hall-Chand was surprised by the message at the time because it was not ordinary for Bergman to go out on dates with strangers.

Bergman’s ex-boyfriend, Jon Christopher Clark, was arrested for unrelated identity theft charges two weeks after her disappearance.
