The winner of the 2018 Miss America pageant Cara Mund has decided to speak out against the bosses of the pageant, claiming that the whole environment around the contest is toxic and full of bullying and belittlement.
It seems like she was not even initially aware of what was going on, but at some point, she got suspicious and started looking up information about workplace bullying.
That is when Mund realized that the depictions match her own recent experience pretty closely, and she started looking into what exactly made her workplace environment so unpleasant.
Mund claims that she has been continuously belittled and silenced by those above her, made to feel insignificant and even felt like there was an attempt to remove her from her role as Miss America completely.
She went on to explain that the incidents were mixed between subtle, barely noticeable, to blatantly obvious ones that could hardly be ignored.
That is not all though — previously, Mund had tried to explain her position and cry out for help in an interview, but that was met with harsh internal retaliation and certain decisions that were clearly designed to restrict her appearance in front of an audience and lower her current status.
The situation seems quite dramatic behind the scenes, as it looks like there are some serious attempts to push Mund out of the picture.
Hopefully, her recent revelations are going to shed more light onto the current situation with the Miss America pageant and the behavior of those running the show, as it does appear like there are more issues here than meet the eye.
In her open letter, it is clear that she is going after Gretchen Carlson, who returned to the organization in the past year.
She explained, “I truly felt more valued, respected and viewed as a real collaborator within my first three months rather that these last eight months.”
Carlson pushed ideas like getting rid of the bikini segment of the show. The organization has put out a statement about having Mund’s back despite her shocking claims.
