Iconic designer Stefano Gabbana is facing a huge wave of backlash after offending pop singer Selena Gomez by saying she is ugly.
It all began with a couple of photos of Gomez in various red gowns joined together as a collage posted by The Catwalk Italia on social media on Monday.
Then, the 55-year-old designer expressed his opinion that the singer is ugly in Italian.
However, with Miss Gomez being one of the most famous people on Instagram, it did not take long for her numerous followers to jump up and defend her. As a result, the fashion guru’s comment was quickly flooded with responses against him.

Even some celebrities stepped in and commented in Gomez’s defense. For example, actor Tommy Dorfman from 13 Reasons Why uncompromisingly suggested that Gabbana’s ways were no longer tolerable or chic.
Some of the singer’s colleagues also stayed on Selena’s side. Julia Michaels, who collaborated with Gomez on the hit “Bad Liar,” wrote that Selena was one of the most beautiful women she knew.
The pop diva Miley Cyrus weighed in too by saying that what Gabbana wrote was false and insisted her colleague was perfectly fine.
This is not the first time the 25-year-old performer of “Wrecking Ball” has been in open conflict with the fashion designer.
Last year, she expressed the opinion that she is firmly against the politics of “Dolce & Gabbana.” Following Cyrus’ comment, Gabbana stated the singer is just “ignorant.”
Usually, Gabbana is famous for being a harsh critic of famous women on Instagram. He recently commented on a snap of actress Kate Moss dressed in an outfit by Saint Laurent with nothing more than a “no,” and in April, he expressed his disapproval of Victoria Beckham’s appearance with a couple of thumbs-down emojis.
Selena is on top of the food chain when it comes to the music industry regardless of what the haters say.
