Shonda Rhimes has some breaking news to share with the world.
Recently, it has been revealed that the popular TV producer and screenwriter will work in collaboration with Netflix on a new television series.
The new show is inspired by an article from New York Magazine titled “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” written by Jessica Pressler.
So far, Shondaland has gotten a hold on the rights for the article and Rhimes will be working on the development of the series.
The storyline revolves around the main character, Delvey, a con artist who pretended to be a wealthy German heiress so that she could be welcomed in the elite circle of the high society of New York.
By tricking various wealthy people and institutions, the 27-year-old Delvey soon landed herself behind bars in the New York’s Rikers Island prison as she was found guilty on account of six counts of larceny and theft of services.
The story of Delvey sparked an unusual interest among different studios and actors. It is even rumored that actresses like Jennifer Lawrence and Margot Robbie have expressed an interest in acquiring the role of the main character. Apparently, it will become increasingly difficult for Delvey to choose who should portray her on TV or in a movie.
The story of Delvey will be the first project for Rhimes since she transferred to Netflix last August. Before signing her deal with the streaming giant, Rhimes was involved with ABC, where she became famous because of her work on international hits like Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and Private Practice.
Delvey’s unique tale quickly went viral after it was published a few weeks ago. The young woman has not expressed much remorse after all the things that she has done and still believes that she is mostly a force for good.
