Jennifer Lawrence hacked photos first appeared on websites like Reddit and 4Chan in August, the talented actress is finally speaking out about them in a cover story for the November 2014 Vanity Fair.
Jennifer Lawrence hacked photos were the main draw from the celebrity photo leaks known as “The Fappening” and “Celebgate” that have been rocking the entertainment world in the past weeks. Lawrence who hired a lawyer and contacted the F.B.I never spoke publicly on the matter.
The 24-year-old actress is now addressing the scandal in a very forceful way. Lawrence who poses topless for famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier in the November 2014 edition of Vanity Fair, tells the popular magazine that the leak of her private nude photos is a “sex crime.”
The Oscar-winning star of Silver Linings Playbook told V.F. contributing editor Sam Kashner:
“It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime. It is a sexual violation. It’s disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change.”
The hacking was the result of a breach in Apple’s iCloud, but the company denied any responsibility, putting the blame instead on problems with passwords. Kate Upton, Kaley Cuoco, Ariana Grande and Rihanna were also among the 101-plus celebrities hit by “The Fappening.” The leak is still ongoing with famous faces of smaller stature.
Some say, the unauthorized publication of naked pictures comes with the territory if you decide to become an entertainer. This argument does not sit well with the Kentucky native. Lawrence explained:
“Just because I’m a public figure, just because I’m an actress, does not mean that I asked for this.It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It’s my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe that we even live in that kind of world.”
Inquiring minds always wanted to know who J-Law took the nude images for, known for her candor, she answered the question without any detour. The American Hustle actress stated:
“I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long-distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he’s going to look at you.”
Lawrence dated X-Men: Days of Future Past actor Nicholas Hoult during this period, the pair broke up for good in August 2014. The actress is now in a relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow‘s ex-husband Coldplay’s Chris Martin. What does Lawrence think of people who are looking at her nude photos? Well the answer to this question could not not be any clearer, she explained:
“Anybody who looked at those pictures, you’re perpetuating a sexual offense. You should cower with shame. Even people who I know and love say, ‘Oh, yeah, I looked at the pictures.’ I don’t want to get mad, but at the same time I’m thinking, I didn’t tell you that you could look at my naked body.”
The critically-acclaimed movie star hopes that the world will focus on positive things, instead of bringing other people down.
“You have a choice. You don’t have to be a person who spreads negativity and lies for a living. You can do something good. You can be good. Let’s just make that choice.”
It will be interesting to see if the hackers hear her call for civility and put an end to “Celebgate.” Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper star in the Susanne Bier-directed drama Serena that will be out in February 2015.
